Excited once again to return to my hometown and take part in the annual Canoga Park Artwalk.
CPAW: 2011 – 2014
It’s strange how time passes. I’ve been typing at the annual summer CPAW (and other San Fernando Valley events hosted by the 11:11 crew) since it first started. My first foray into the artwalk world as a typewriter poet was back in 2011.
This year will be special.
Tomorrow night, CPAW will be honoring PRIDE month with an LGBTQ themed art festival and artwalk. There will be a moment of silence and a candlelight vigil to remember the victims of the Orlando attack, starting at 8pm.
Here is where I am calling out all abled allies of the SFV and greater Los Angeles: this is your chance. Your chance to put your body where your
mouth status update is. To move away from the computer, away from the phone, away from your wonderfully crafted Facebook posts condemning gun laws, homophobia, and Islamophobia, and publicly participate in support of the LGBTQ community.
I hope to see you there. Stop by, stay for the vigil; don’t forget to say hello.
You can find me as usual at the Typewriter Poetry booth from 6PM – 10PM. This year, I’ll be in my dandy tomboy attire, typing poems by donation, and selling handmade books.
