One of my favorite California native trees: the palo verde.

I took some time away from Typewriter Poetry to start a new project, which I affectionately call “For Every Star, A Tree.”

We’re planting trees, grasses, shrubs, wildflowers, and other plants in the middle of the Antelope Valley, which is a region in northern Los Angeles county that is part of the Mojave Desert. Here’s a recap of our progress last year:

I’m still trying to figure out how to tie in Typewriter Poetry with this project. In the meantime, know that I will be using any funds from Poetry Care Package orders to purchase water, maintain the garden, and plant trees.

Inspired by my daughter, my vision is to cultivate a thriving, sustainable oasis out here one day.

In the meantime, I’ll be typing poetry gifts for lovely people like you.

Thanks for reading,
