This poem was made for Liz, who requested “trees.” I also wrote a poem for her called “Mortician.”
She was kind enough to post the picture to the Typewriter Poetry Facebook page.
I really love how the frame is perfect for this poem! It makes me happy knowing that some of these poems are being sent off to nice homes 🙂
“Hello Tree”
One morning I heard
your soft whisper: a rustle
among decaying leaves.
When I touched your hardened bark
darkened by the ages,
I felt your roots untangle
beneath my calloused feet.
