Yes, you read right. I’ll be bringing my typewriter as well as my lawn-chair, cardboard sign, paper, and thinking/feeling hat to the playa this year.
I’ll be sitting by my tent, which will be at the Safer Sex Camp near 5:30 & B(irthday). Come say hello and get a poem !
I’ve always wanted to see that. Have a great time. By the way, I was crawling around your site today and it made me think of this documentary that I saw at Sundance several years ago. http://history.sundance.org/films/2640
I never replied to this. Thanks for the link, I’ll be sure to check it out!
Hey, I just found this post because I was idly wondering about whether typewriters ever played a part at Burning Man. They seem so appropriate. How did it go?? (I didn’t see a followup, just point me to it if you have one.)
Ha! How funny. I did bring my typewriter, but I was afraid the dust would ruin in so I didn’t use it as much as I should have. Have you ever been to Burning Man?
Nope, I’ve never been, just wondered about it from afar and seen lots of pictures. It looks fascinating, particularly the gift-economy aspect. If you google “burning man typewriter” you see a couple of machines that were in use there. I do imagine that you’re right, the dust could mess up the mechanism.
