"The Hold" by Billimarie Lubiano Robinson - "I didn't know I was hurting you. / Well, you did / Well, I'm sorry / it was your nails / they're long / and biting, digging really / I stopped / so don't start / I'm sorry / but it hurt" (Typewriter Poetry)

"The Hold" by billimarie typewriter poetry

This is a poem I typed at the Echo Park Art Walk last April. It’s inspired by an interaction I witnessed between a father and his very young daughter.

“The Hold”

I didn’t know I was hurting you.
Well, you did
well, I’m sorry
it was your nails
they’re long
and biting, digging really
I stopped
so don’t start
I’m sorry
but it hurt
