This is a poem I typed at the Echo Park Art Walk last April. It’s inspired by an interaction I witnessed between a father and his very young daughter.
“The Hold”
I didn’t know I was hurting you.
Well, you did
well, I’m sorry
it was your nails
they’re long
and biting, digging really
I stopped
so don’t start
I’m sorry
but it hurt

Perfect, crystalline moment. Beautiful.
Thanks, Richard. I actually like this one a lot. The flow reading it back matches what I was witnessing and my emotional response to the situation.
