TYPEWRITER
by billimarie
Mistakes are more permanent
than we’d often admit. They fade
like ancient scars which once seeped
beyond skin and into being
but now, attentive lovers
if you can find them, caress
each darkened spot as if
it were merely dried type
from rusty mechanics. Then everything
is uttered. Life
happens at once. And their guttural glance
cuts past wounded echoes of
the people we used
to be.
