Typewriter Poetry’s Internet Poem (Or, #TyPoInPo)

There’s one experiment I’ve been wanting to try for a while. It comes from being a fan of collaboration, as well as having a deep love of the internet.

Typewriter Poetry has always been a “we” project. In getting back to that, I’m asking anyone who reads this to help create a typewritten Internet Poem–or, as I’m singing saying in my head, #TyPoInPo (Typewriter Poetry Internet Poem!).

How to participate, you ask? All you have to do is create a single line of poetry and upload it to the internet.

Here’s my contribution. #TyPoInPo

It’d be awesome if your poetry lines are spontaneously constructed, original, and first drafts.

Once you’ve penned the imperfectly perfect poem, release it to the wilds of the internet! You can leave a comment. Send me an email. Tweet @typewritepoetry. Shoot Typewriter Poetry a message on Facebook. Deliver the line in a YouTube video. A Vine. Take a picture of it and put it on instagram. Flickr. Pin your handwritten single line of poetic brilliance to a board on Pinterest. Record an audio file of yourself saying it and put it on Soundcloud.

Whatever your method, I’ll be sure to find it and add it to the collection. Just make sure you leave a breadcrumb: #TyPoInPo. Use that in your title, tags, keywords, summary, filename, or author for your submission. Why? Because there are no Google results for it, yet. And that will make it easier to keep track of everyone participating.

TyPoInPo No Google Results

On the last day of this year, I will handpick the [subjectively] best entries and type them out on my typewriter. The end result will be the first Typewriter Poetry poem constructed through–and by!–our small bubble on the internet.

You’ll have to come back in January 2014 to see the final poem. Until then, here’s to #TyPoInPo! I’m excited to see what becomes of this tiny call.

  1. Here’s a work in progress, you’re welcome to use it or dissect it however you want: “Let it not scare you if all of a sudden one of my alter egos comes out to greet you. They’re all very harmless…”
